We are pleased to welcome guests to SIUE to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates. To ensure a pleasant experience for all guests and graduates, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines.
To ensure sufficient seating, we ask that each student bring no more than six guests. The ceremonies will be broadcast online at siuetv.com for guests who are not able to attend. Once seating has reached capacity, guests will be directed to the overflow room where the ceremony can be viewed by video. Late arrivals also will be directed to the overflow room.
Guests are asked to remain seated until the conclusion of the ceremony and not leave early. Guests will not be permitted to stand in aisles/walkways/doorways during the ceremony.
Bullhorns and noisemakers are not permitted at the ceremonies and will be confiscated.
Guests may take photos from their seats, but will not be permitted to approach the stage or stand in walkways and/or aisles. For the safety of all of our guests, walkways/aisles must be kept clear at all times.
Approved academic regalia is required for all participants. For men: long dark pants, dark dress shoes and a collared shirt; for women: shirt and dark slacks or skirt, or a dress and dark dress shoes. Comfortable attire is recommended.
Men should remove their caps, and all graduates should stand during the presentation of the flag and the National Anthem.
To ensure that all guests can hear and enjoy the graduation activities, cell phones and other electronic devices should be turned to silent mode in the line-up and throughout the ceremony. Texting during the ceremony is prohibited.
