Sustainability at SIUE
Whether through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifiable construction projects in its buildings or the campus bike share and recycling programs initiated by the Sustainability Advisory Group, SIUE encourages environmental preservation and stewardship, while promoting scholarship.

SIUE is dedicated to meeting the needs of its nearly 14,000 students. In uncertain economic times and within a competitive global marketplace, the University is looking to its more than 90,000 graduates, as well as community leaders, business partners and other allies to help our future graduates learn and grow in a fresh, exciting environment. Your gifts and support are needed to help SIUE retain its importance in the region as a premier metropolitan University.

Some examples of support that have made a meaningful difference in the lives of the University’s faculty, staff and students include:

  • A 5-year, $150,000 commitment by St. Louis-based Sigma-Aldrich for a biochemistry laboratory in the new Science Lab Building West
  • A $100,000 endowment created by SIUE’s longest-tenured faculty member, Biological Sciences Professor Dr. Ralph W. Axtell, to support teaching and research activities in ecology and organismal biology. Axtell has a laboratory named in his honor in the new Science Building
  • A $4.2 million private estate gift allowed the University to build the Charles and Mary Lukas Athletics Annex, giving our student-athletes a decisive edge as they are welcomed into the world NCAA Division I competition

There are many reasons to give and several options available through the SIUE Foundation to achieve your philanthropic goals. For more information, contact the SIUE Foundation, (618) 650-2345 or
