Develop a Marketing Plan

 The SIUE Small Business Development Center has multiple resources to assist in the development of your marketing plan. In addition, each year the SIUE SBDC selects ten to fifteen businesses to participate with an advanced marketing class developing a marketing plan. If you would like more information on how your business can participate with SIUE's marketing class contact the SBDC.

Developing a Marketing Plan

A marketing plan is a very instrumental tool for any business. It is critical for any business to identify their target market and to plan how they are they are going to reach that targeted market. In order to help you develop a sound marketing plan the following outline is recommended:

  1. Description of the product or service
  2. Description of the targeted market
  3. Description of competitors
  4. Pricing strategy

Additionally, The SBDC can assist the business owner in properly developing their marketing mix by using the “ 4Ps” of marketing; Product, Price, Place and Promotion. This will carefully identify the target market for the business. Detailed outlines are available at both SIUE SBDCs.
