After receiving his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, SBDC Director Kwa Mister began his career as a project manager for 14 years of retail design consulting projects, specializing in banking programs. Kwa combined this knowledge of financial services with the passion he has for serving his hometown of East St. Louis, Illinois and became the SIUE SBDC Director in 2007. The National Association of Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC) recently named Kwa the 2010 State Star of Illinois for his continued service to small businesses.
“Small business, in my opinion, is the bloodline of a community,” Kwa says. “We believe in the small business owner. If you’re here and you want to survive, then we want to help you survive.”
