SIUE introduces Virtual Leader to its line-up of Project Management training programs.

Program Structure
Participants use the the vLeader simulator to complete leadership training modules, and meet each week via WebEx webinar from Noon to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1 and 8 with the program facilitator.

Program Description
is an exciting and powerful e-learning platform that allows you to develop critical skills for today's leaders. vLeader uses a series of increasingly difficult simulated scenarios to allow you to learn, practice and hone skills directed toward

  • mastering effective leadership
  • developing active leadership communication skills
  • learning to build personal influence
  • enhancing emotional intelligence
  • facilitating idea generation in yourself and eliciting it from others
  • improving your ability to resolve conflict
  • increasing your awareness of verbal and nonverbal communication cues
  • realizing your potential as a change agent in your organization's culture

The core of vLeader training is that effective leadership balances three key functions in different situations: 1) power or influence, 2) ideas, and 3) tension. Using these together in varying degrees and in various ways, leaders achieve their primary objective of getting the important work done as efficiently as possible. As you practice each of the scenarios in vLeader, you will find it necessary to use these three functions in ways that make sense given the situation, the people with whom you interact, and your objectives.

The vLeader simulator is supported by a workbook that clearly explains the program and guides you through each scenario. The simulator allows you to repeat each scenario as many times as you need to deeply grasp and master each concept. It provides you with a safe, private environment in which to try out different leadership strategies, and provides you with immediate and extensive feedback after each practice session so that you are able to readily understand what works and what doesn't.

The vLeader simulator can be accessed from anywhere 24/7 to fit your schedule.

Program Facilitation
The vLeader program will be facilitated by Dr. Mary Sue Love, a vLeader Level 2 Mentor. Dr. Love will meet with participants weekly to delve more deeply into the nuances of the training, lead discussion of specific aspects of the course materials, and answer your questions. The initial webinar will provide an orientation to the vLeader software and an overview of the program.
