FOUNDATIONS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This 5-day highly interactive program teaches the basics of project management as outlined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in its Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK)®.  As basic concepts and techniques are learned, participants are asked to work together to put them to work by developing a comprehensive project management plan. with component plans for schedule, cost, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and quality management.   At the end of each day, the participant will be ready to use the project management basics and best practices presented in that session.

Program components are:
Day 1 - Project Integration and Scope Management
Day 2 - Project Schedule Management and Project Cost Management
Day 3 - Project Human Resource Management and Project Communications Management
Day 4 - Project Risk Management
Day 5 - Project  Procurement Management and Project Quality Management

The comprehensive project management plan and its component plans will include processes, tools, techniques, and sample forms for each step in project management planning.  By the end of the program, the participant will have received a model Project Management Plan that can be used as a template for future projects.

 At the conclusion of the program, each participant is given a comprehensive self-study guide that can be used to prepare for the PMP® certification examination.

Must be taken as a 5 day program.

INDIVIDUAL COURSE CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

The SIUE Executive Education division of the School of Business reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course when necessary. If we cancel or postpone a course for any reason, you may choose to receive a FULL refund or apply  the course fee to a subsequent offering of the same or a similar course. The latter option may be exercised within one calendar year of the original course.

If you register and pay for a course and then withdraw a one week or more before the start date of the course, a full refund of the course fee less an administrative fee of $50 will be made.

If cancellation occurs less than one week before the start date of the course, no refund of the course fee will be made; however, at the discretion of the Director of Executive Education Programs, the course fee may be applied to a subsequent offering of the same or similar course with a course fee that is at least equal to the cost of the original course. If the course fee of a subsequent course exceeds the amount paid for the original course, the difference in the course fee amounts must be paid in full prior to the start of the subsequent course. An approved substitution must occur within one calendar year of the original course.
