Course Formats & Schedules

Course Formats

The MBA program offers convenient classes designed to meet the needs of full-time as well as students who attend part time. Typical class offerings usually minimize schedule conflicts and travel time, as well as maximize time productively spent learning.

MBA courses are offered in two formats: a 10-week evening format and a weekend format (usually meeting three weekends over a six-week period).  Students may take courses in either or both formats; and matriculation for any term in the school year is possible. Tenured SIUE business faculty teach most MBA courses, regardless of format.

In the 10-week evening format, classes meet once per week (6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) for 10 weeks. The terms begin in late-August, early November, mid-February and late-May. A wide range of electives is available throughout the year. CMIS electives are usually offered on the traditional 15-week schedule.

Weekend format classes meet the first, third and fifth weekends of a six week term.  Classes meet Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. for the first two weekends and then Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the final weekend.   Students following the weekend format will take only one course every six-week period. Depending on scheduling and holidays, students should be able to complete up to eight courses per year on the weekend format.
