Travel Study China

Program Description:

The SIUE School of Business Travel Study to China will include a visit to Shanghai, China’s largest city and global financial hub, where you will learn to be effective in the global business environment. You will also visit Beijing, the capital of China and experience the history of over 5 millennia, the culture, and modern life of this ancient city.  And finally, you will visit Xiamen and see one of the four original finance zones when China first opened trading.  Participating students will be enrolled in GBA 489 or MBA 595 for three credit hours.

Locations & Travel Dates:

The China Travel Study will take place May 12-26, 2019. Students will visit Shanghai, Beijing, and Xiamen.

Applications are due by December 1, 2018 by 4:30pm.

Application Instructions:

3. Search for SIUE Faculty-led: Business and Culture in China

4. Follow the instructions and complete the checklist of each application piece associated with your program

5. Submit your online application as soon as possible, but no later than 4:30 pm on December 1, 2018. Please also make sure the faculty member has submitted your recommendation by that time.

Travel Study Costs:
The cost will be $3,650 for students participating in the China Travel Study.

Included:  Airfare, Transportation between destinations in China, Lodging, Opening & Closing dinners

Not included:  Most meals, SIUE Tuition & Fees, Local Transportation, and Incidental expenses

1st Payment will be due after acceptance to the program ($1,825)
2nd Payment will be due January 11th ($1,825)

Credit & Course Requirements:

Students will be enrolled in GBA 489 or MBA 595 for three credit hours. The course is taught in seminar format and students will be reviewed based on the value they add to the course. Students will be required to attend 3 to 4 mandatory pre-trip class meetings and possibly 1 post-trip meeting.

To participate in the China Travel Study, students must meet the following requirements:

- Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students in good standing at SIUE
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Priority will be given to School of Business students
