Study In Hungary

This is a time of transition for Hungary, making it a fantastic time to study business there.  Hungary joined the European Union on May 1st, 2004, and in 2010, Hungary expects to begin using the Euro as its official currency.  Hungary’s capital, Budapest, is a city of 1.82 million people situated near the northern border with Slovakia. It has been hailed as one of the most stunningly beautiful World Heritage sites and attracts visitors with a wealth of architectural styles, as well as old world charm. While the official language is Hungarian, both German and English are widely spoken.

The Budapest International Management Semester (BIMS) runs once a year, from September to December. It is an applied management sciences program, placing an important emphasis on field work, giving participants an understanding of international business. The multicultural dimension is emphasized by cross-cultural teamwork, whereby local and international students together complete a major group project. This program is geared toward MBA or Masters Degree candidates or upper level business major seniors with the consent of the program director.

The Central and Eastern European Business Semester (CEEBS), offered in the spring semester, focuses on the Central and Eastern European business environment, and provides a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the European Union. Its general aim is to provide insight into the specific management practices and business environment of the area, while giving participants the opportunity to improve their intercultural skills while working in multicultural teams.

Participation in this exchange program is limited. SIUE may send 10 students per semester to the ESSCA program. This number includes the programs in France and in Hungary.
