The School of Business at SIUE is fortunate to have accomplished and dedicated faculty. But as many faculty members at universities hired in the 1960s and early 1970s begin to retire, SIUE’s School of Business is now competing for the best and brightest new faculty members from around the globe. Currently, the School of Business has no fully endowed faculty positions. The best teacher-scholars are attracted to endowed positions because they afford the flexibility to pursue opportunities such as designing new courses, engaging students in research and mentoring younger faculty — activities not directly supported by state appropriations.
The School of Business seeks to establish fully endowed faculty positions that will attract senior teacher-scholars who will provide leadership for their departments and help to attract younger faculty who want to work with them. Priority areas for endowed chairs and professorships are in entrepreneurship, marketing, ethics, and accounting.
