The finance specialization in business administration provides students with a basic understanding of the functional areas of business, the behavior of organizations and decision-making processes. These courses provide students with quantitative and analytical skills; an understanding of the economic, social, political and legal environments in which business decisions are made; knowledge of accounting and information systems; insights into organizational behavior, development, goal setting, and management of human resources; an understanding of the ethical and global issues confronting business; and leadership and team-building skills through the student’s analysis of business cases and other experiential exercises.
The finance specialization prepares students for decision-making positions in the areas of corporate finance, investments and management of financial institutions. Courses in finance are designed to help students understand the complex world of global finance and business. The specialization emphasizes financial knowledge and skills that are necessary to succeed in today’s diverse and highly technical business world.
