The business administration degree program provides a basic understanding of the functional areas of business, the behavior of organizations, and decision-making processes. In addition, students will learn analytical methods for solving basic problems affecting profit and growth.
The Business Administration degree allows flexibility and the opportunity to specialize in a field of choice. Specializations include:

Students not choosing one of the above specializations will take four additional business electives which are complementary to their interests and career aspirations. The Business Administration degree will prepare you to be a business professional who understands the environment in which business operates and can analyze how business operations are impacted by economic, social, political, and legal environments. In addition, you will learn about the functional areas of modern business and the ethical and global issues confronting business today. Practice in making decisions using quantitative and analytical skills are complemented with leadership and team-building skills. The curriculum is delivered using a variety of methods including analysis of business cases and other experiential exercises as well as co-curricular activities.
Graduates of the program are qualified for careers in administration or management of business firms, in banking and insurance, and in federal, state and local government agencies as well as a variety of other settings where knowledge of business functions is required. Students are strongly encouraged to obtain professional experiences through co-operative education, internship and other co-curricular activities prior to graduation.
Admission to the School of Business is through a selective, competitive application process. Students must first apply to SIUE and be admitted to the University, then complete a set of prerequisite courses before applying for admission to the School of Business. Students are encouraged to work closely with their academic advisor as they make plans to apply for admission to the School of Business.
