To Faculty and Staff:
An average 2.5% salary increase plan for unrepresented faculty and staff was approved by the Board of Trustees at its September 13, 2012 meeting. Salary increase payments for these unrepresented employees are effective as of July 1, 2012 and are expected to be paid out by mid-November. Increases for represented employees will continue to occur as provided for by contract.
The FY13 Budget, approved by the Board of Trustees at the September 13, 2012 meeting, may be found at: http://www.siue.edu/budget/FY13-budget.shtml . SIUE's FY13 state appropriation reflects a $3.8 million (approximately 6%) reduction in funding vs. the FY12 appropriation.
Regarding the FY12 Budget, as of 9/7/12, the State still owes SIUE approximately $4.0 million, which is 6.2% of SIUE’s total FY12 state appropriation. We anticipate receiving the remainder of the FY12 state appropriation funds by December. In addition, for FY13, the State currently owes SIUE $13.4 million, which is 22.4% of the FY13 state appropriation. Updates will be posted on the SIUE Planning & Budget website at: http://www.siue.edu/budget/ .
Due to ongoing budget uncertainties, the Chancellor’s Council will continue its practice of evaluating all new and replacement staff position requests through a “critical hire” lens. The Provost will review all faculty requests and will make a determination regarding approval based on the critical nature of the position.
