HR Banner Self-Service CougarNet Overview

What is it?

CougarNet is the self-service product of Banner Enterprise Information System that allows students, faculty and staff access to information using their University ID (UID) and PIN (Personal Identification Number).

This overview will look at the HR information that is available for viewing and updating. Some of the information is shared with other areas (Student and Faculty).

Where do I login?

CougarNet is accessible by:

· Open an internet browser.

· Navigate to one of the following links:

- www.siue.edu/cougarnet

- For current Banner users, www.siue.edu/beis and click on the Self Service Banner link.

· Click on the Enter CougarNet Secure Area link to access personal information.

How do I login?

· Enter your University ID.

- 800# located on your Cougar ID card.

· Enter your PIN.

· Click .

What if I need help?

· Each page has its own help available.

- Click on HELP.

- Pop-up box with contact information and/or hints on navigating the current page will open.

- Close Help when done.

· Contact the department that is responsible for the content.

- Employee: Human Resources (HR), 650-2190.

- Student/Faculty: Student Service Center, 650-2080.

- Blackboard: Faculty Technology Center, 650-5500.

How do I navigate through CougarNet?

· Clicking on a link will take you to the next level; another menu or an information page.

· Information pages may have additional links.

- History

- Detail

- Vendor web site (i.e.; SURS)

· Click Return to Menu link to move back one menu level.

- Examples:

o From Retirement Plans page, returns to Benefits and Deductions menu.

o From Benefits and Deductions menu, returns to Employment menu.

- If no Return to Menu link, page will have a link to return to a specific information page.

· Site Map is similar to a table of contents.

What will I find?

Personal Information

· Manage the access; change your PIN and security question.

· View and update addresses, phone numbers, emergency contacts and marital status.

· View E-mail address and directory profile.

· Information on name and Social Security Number changes.

Employment

Note: Information displayed begins with the FY08 conversion.

· Benefits and Deductions:

- View plans, contributions/deductions, history, details and vendors’ web sites for retirement plans, health/dental/life insurances, flexible spending accounts and taxes.

- View summary of all benefits and deductions for a selected date.

· Pay Information:

- View direct deposit allocation, earnings statement and deductions.

- View/print pay stubs.

· Tax Forms:

- View W-4 tax exemptions and allowances.

- View/print W-2 and W-2c (if applicable) forms.

· Jobs Summary:

- View history of jobs.

- View detail for selected job.

· Campus Directory:

- View/search directory by name.

- View/search directory by department.
