Theater History/ Literature/ Criticism

The Theater History/Literature/Criticism (THLC) specialization offers a rigorous program of study to prepare students for graduate work in theater and performance studies and/or to coincide with similar work as double majors in
other departments (i.e. English, Philosophy, Art History, History, Anthropology, etc). The small size of this area ensures close working relationships with its professors whose research areas include: dramatic literature, theater history, Shakespeare studies, critical theory, theater anthropology and world theater. With some restrictions the curriculum can be designed to accommodate the individual interests of each THLC major by offering a wide selection of electives, some flexibility in area requirements, and an independently devised senior assignment project. Special activities offered by the area include the London Theatre Study Abroad Program, a four-week 6.0 credit course offered during the summer.
