Letter to Interested Applicants for MSW Program

Photo of Dr. Jill Schreiber Welcome to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Department of Social Work!

Social work is a dynamic profession concerned with the wellbeing of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and society. Social workers are employed by community mental health agencies, hospitals, schools, employee assistance programs, family service agencies, and community service agencies.

Our committed and dedicated faculty will help facilitate your success, both as students in our Master’s in Social Work program and as professional social work practitioners in whatever arena you may choose to practice. We will challenge and inspire, guide and assist you throughout your graduate student career.

At SIUE, we believe that graduate education is a joint venture undertaken by educators and students together. The faculty of social work department are committed to this collective enterprise. In addition, we know we will learn from each of you and that you will learn from each other. Your time in the program will not only provide opportunities in the classroom, but also practice experience via service learning, fieldwork, and lab work with actors hired to portray social work clients.

The Graduate MSW section of our website (on left) describes our program's mission and goals, as well as admission requirements and procedures. Application materials are also available.

I, personally, invite you to join us. Together we CAN make a difference in society, and in the lives of the people we work with.
