Dear Prospective Master of Social Work Student:
We are pleased to know of your interest in the MSW Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Our Program offers students training in the professional values, knowledge and skills for advanced social work practice in the community. We emphasize the teaching of social work practice methods that promote social and economic justice and enhance the well-being of all citizens in our society. Our students are taught both generalist and specialized intervention methods for empowerment-based social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, neighborhoods and communities.
Our MSW Program consists of two concentrations. Our Micro concentration includes coursework designed to help students become proficient in working with individuals, families, and small groups. The focus of the Macro concentration is on preparing students to practice in organizations, neighborhoods, and communities.
Coursework includes traditional classroom experience, field work. and lab work with actors hired to portray social work clients.
We wish to thank you for your interest in our MSW Program, and we look forward to receiving your application materials in the near future.
