These positions involve an appointment as a Graduate Assistant by the Department of Public Administration and Policy Analysis. Interns are paid at stipulated graduate assistant rates and receive a tuition waiver. Interns are placed with public and nonprofit agencies and perform a variety of duties such as:
Currently our program has four graduate students as graduate assistants. These individuals assist in the PAPA office, help fellow students or prospective students with question regarding SIUE or the MPA program. These individuals also assist professors as needed and work on the the department newsletter, brochure, and plan department events. A graduate assistant can also be assigned to a particular professor to work on research or grant work. Currently there are MPA students working in internship positions.
