Proud to Announce MPA Alumni Lands Dream Job in Kisumu, Kenya
Danielle May, a recent graduate of the MPA program, in December 2012, has landed a dream job in Kisumu, Kenya. She will be the Africa Program Director for Give Us Wings USA. Give Us Wings is a non-profit organization which takes a grassroots approach to community development. The organization funds a variety of different community projects based on individual community needs, including medical clinics, schools, various water projects, scholarships, women’s groups, and groups helping persons living with AIDS/HIV. Danielle as the Program Director, will oversee the projects offered by the organization. She will be working closely with the Kenya Board of Directors and Ugandan Board of Directors to manage the various projects. Activities will include human resources, general administration, budget management, site visits, grant writing, and various other administrative duties.
Danielle chose a Master’s in Public Administration and Policy Analysis degree to continue her career in the nonprofit/ NGO sector. She stated “The MPA program has given me a stronger foundation in the areas such as policy, budgeting, fundraising, and HR management. I have experience in direct service and field work with nonprofits, but I had very little managerial or administrative experience. The MPA has helped fill in some of the gaps of my previous work experience in order for me to pursue nonprofit positions with greater administrative responsibility and earning potential.”
Congratulations Fall 2012 Graduates!
