General Education Requirements for The Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree
Fifteen (15) to seventeen (17) credits in Skills (Determined by selection of either Option ‘A’ or Option ‘B’).
Fifteen (15) credits in Introductory Courses in Fine Arts and/or Humanities, Science, and/or Mathematics, and Social Sciences – (no single discipline may be used in any one area to satisfy this requirement).
Nine (9) credits in Distribution Courses
Three (3) credits in Interdisciplinary Studies
Liberal Studies Disciplinary Course Distribution Requirements
All courses must demonstrate grades of “C” or better and be limited to courses designated as “Distribution” by each department and/or school teaching the course. Appropriate Interdisciplinary Studies (I.S.) courses may be acceptable. Fifteen credits in each category is understood to be five (5) courses.
15 credits in Fine Arts and/or Humanities
15 credits in Sciences and/or Mathematics
15 credits in Social Sciences
Other Requirements
Group Relations – (may be completed in General Education Area or BLS Distribution Areas)
International Issues and/or International Relations – (may be completed in General Education Area or BLS Distribution Areas)
Senior Assignment – Three (3) Credits
Twenty (20) to thirty-one (31) elective credits
Sixty (60) credits minimum completed at a senior college (four year institution).
Thirty (30) credits minimum completed at SIUE
Forty-five (45) credits minimum in 300 and/or 400 level courses with a minimum of fifteen (15) credits of the total, including the Senior Assignment, to be designated 400 level or above.
A maximum of twenty-four (24) credits in any one discipline may apply toward completion of Liberal Studies requirements.
Total minimum to complete the Bachelor of Liberal Studies = 124 credits
