Personal Statement: a 1-1.5 page letter in which you provide some background about yourself, why you’re interested in our program, why you think you would be a strong contributor to our program, and the names and contact information for two (2) academic references who can speak to your abilities as a historian (no letters of recommendation needed. We’ll contact references directly)
Writing Sample: a 12-15 page piece of writing from a history class that you feel best demonstrates your capabilities as a writer and researcher
Official transcripts from all institutions and for all degrees completed. (Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for application review, but official transcripts must be on file before you can be enrolled)
Step Two: Please send an email to Robert Paulett, Graduate Program Director in History (firstname.lastname@example.org) informing him of your application. If possible, please attach electronic versions of your personal statement, writing sample, and (if you choose, see below) unofficial transcripts for all degrees completed.
