Concert Grand Piano
- More than thirty years and extensive use have taken their toll on the two grand pianos used by all segments of the music program, faculty, and visiting artists.
- SIUE is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art recording studio on campus, but a quality grand piano is not currently accessible for faculty and student recording projects.
- A new concert grand piano will allow the music department to attract world-class pianists to campus for guest recitals and other performances.
- Having access to a high quality piano may encourage regional musicians to utilize the SIUE studio for projects, thus generating additional earned income for the department.
- Since 1995, CAS has invested more than $150,000 to buy and renovate pianos for practice rooms.
- State funds must continue to be the source for practice room piano purchases, leaving little funding to purchase a new performance-quality instrument.
- CAS has pledged $5,000 for the grand piano project.
- Partnership gifts are needed to purchase a new Steinway grand piano to add to the two “old friends” that now serve the department.

A total of $100,000 is needed to make a new concert grand piano a reality for SIUE music students and faculty.
