The Spanish Summer Camp is offered by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. In this camp, your child will engage in a wide range of exciting learning and recreational activities that will develop their communication and comprehension skills in Spanish as well as their physical, computer and analytical skills. Every session provides the opportunity to use español and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the Latin-American culture. Campers will be immersed in the Spanish speaking cultures through hands-on experiences such as futbol (soccer), la cocina (cooking), canto y baile (song and dance), arte (art) and telenovela (soap opera).
Campers will use español by asking and answering questions, talk about themselves and family, and comprehend spoken Spanish through meaningful contexts. We will emphasize the interactive, task-based and communicative approaches to the teaching of foreign languages.
Spanish language teaching is tailored to learners ages 6 through 15. Campers are divided in two groups: elementary and middle school.
