Dr. Joshua Kryah

Joshua Kryah

Joshua Kryah is the author of two poetry collections, We Are Starved (2011), and Glean (2007). He received his MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and his PhD from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he was a Black Mountain Institute Fellow in poetry. In 2013 he received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the arts and was the Thornton Writer-in-Residence at Lynchburg College and the Summer Poet in Residence at the University of Mississippi. His awards include a Short-Term Research Fellowship from the New York Public Library, a Seed Grant for Transitional and Exploratory Grants from SIUE, the Michael W. Gearhart Prize from The Southwest Review, and the Third Coast Poetry Prize. He is currently at work on two manuscripts: Journey Out of Essex, a verse drama about the life and work of the British poet John Clare and the English Enclosure Acts of the 19th century; and Holy Ghost People, a meditation on glossolalia. He lives with his wife and two children in St. Louis.
