Master of Science in Education with a major in Curriculum and Instruction, Including an Emphasis in English Language Arts

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education allows graduate students to customize their MSEd degree plans to meet their career needs. Teachers specializing in secondary English Language Arts may select five graduate courses from among the offerings in the Department of English Language and Literature to fulfill the requirements for MSEd Component 2: Area of Emphasis (15 credit hours of graduate-level English coursework plus CI 596 Field Study). For further information and specific School of Education requirements for the MSEd degree (including a sample MSEd curriculum), visit the Department of Curriculum and Instruction's website. Please contact Dr. Jill K. Anderson in the Department of English Language and Literature for assistance with English course selection.

Master of Arts in Integrative Studies

The integrative studies master’s program allows you to earn a graduate degree that meets your specific career goals by integrating courses from multiple disciplines. To learn more about the process of applying for the integrative studies program, visit the graduate school's website. Although the Department of English Language and Literature is not currently involved in an approved degree track for integrative studies, we would be pleased to work with students who have innovative plans in mind that combine the department's disciplines (Literature, Composition, Creative Writing, and/or Linguistics) with other fields. If you have a plan in mind for an integrative course of study, please contact the department's Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Jessica DeSpain.
