2011 Summer Art Workshops

Cat Connor Talasek

Visiting artist Cat Connor-Talasek who teaches ceramics at Fontbonne College.will be our guest artist during this summer session.  She will assist students in developing beautiful burnished black pottery reflective of the artistry of Maria Martinez and other ceramic artists from the U.S. and Mexico.  We will explore established methods and techniques, and experiment with contemporary approaches to process, imagery and content.

Lindsey Stouffer

Visiting artist, Lindsey Stouffer, will visit TBA.  Lindsey is a sculptor with extensive design and metal fabrication experiences.  She currently teaches in the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.  In addition to public artworks and design, Lindsey maintains an active studio practice that includes three-dimensional and two-dimensional works.  Her work emerges from a sense of place and seeks to reveal the importance and beauty there.

Tim Liddy

Visiting artist Tim Liddy will hold a workshop from May 31st to June 3rd.  Tim received his MFA at Washington University in St. Louis, and he is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Fontbonne University.  Tim is an accomplished craftsperson and an elegant draftsman, who has constructed an oeuvre that deals with process, appropriation, and a nuanced understanding of art history.  With his recent paintings, he has both reasserted the construct of hyperrealist painting and developed a thoroughly unique advancement of that mode by extending the objecthood and the cultural reality of the indexed original.
