To celebrate the new Student Success Center addition to the Morris University Center, the SIUE Student Arts Competition will be held annually through the year 2012. Twenty finalists participate in an exhibition in the Morris University Center Gallery. Nine winners receive a monetary award for the purchase of their work by the university. An additional winner is determined by the SIUE student body who votes for their favorite from the twenty finalists on display. This winner will also receive a monetary award for the purchase of their work by the university. The ten winning works will be installed in the new "Student Academic Success Center" on a semi-permanent basis.
This competition is open to currently enrolled SIUE undergraduate and graduate students. Works may be of any medium except film, video and performance. All works must be original and completed while enrolled at SIUE. Artists can submit a maximum of three works. All works should be ready for installation. 2D work should be wired for hanging; plexiglass should be used instead of glass if framed. Works should not weigh more than 150lbs and be no larger than 4 x 8 feet.
The competition reserves the right to photograph, videotape and reproduce any submitted work for documentary, publicity and fundraising purposes.
