Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in cooperation with The Gateway Foundation, St.Louis, Missouri is accepting submissions from enrolled art students at SIUE to participate in the 10th Annual Sculpture on Campus Competition. A maximum of 12 works will be selected for a one-year exhibition throughout the University campus. Winners will receive a $750 stipend to assist in the materials and creation of their sculptures and will also be eligible for Luis Jimenez $1000 Grand Prize, the Gateway Foundation $500 second prize, and $250 third prize. A committee will select the 12 finalists and guest juror, Edward Mayer, will select the winners. An exhibition opening, sculpture walk and banquet will be held on campus presenting the work to the University and surrounding community.
Monday, April 5, 2010: Student Proposals are due to the Department of Art & Design Office by 5pm. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
April 2010: Committee meets, reviews the proposals and selects 12 finalists.
April 16, 2010: Notification of finalists - finalists will receive $750.00 stipend (see below), sign contract, and begin (or continue) work. Students can also sign up for Professor Duhigg's "Large Scale and Public Sculpture" summer class which will help them with this project.
Monday, August 23, 2010: Sculpture Installation Deadline
October 8, 2010: Exhibition Opening, Sculpture Walk, and Banquet. Visiting Artist/Juror, Edward Mayer, selects prize winners
Friday, June 24, 2011: Sculpture Removal Deadline
