Master of Fine Arts - Art Studio

The Master of Fine Arts degree at SIUE is a terminal studio degree designed to further the individual development of degree candidates and to provide them with professional competency in the creative arts of ceramics, drawing, metalsmithing, painting, photography/digital arts, printmaking, sculpture and textile arts.

The MFA program at SIUE is internationally known for its excellent faculty, breadth and depth of programs, outstanding facilities, and the quality and success of its graduates. Please visit the Faculty and Area pages to learn more about our concentrations in the studio arts.

The full-time student should expect to spend a minimum of three academic years in residency to complete the degree.  The program is based on the individual’s area of interest and undergraduate training and is jointly planned by the student, a committee of the graduate faculty, and a professor who serves as advisor to the student in the principal studio area.

Students wishing to apply to the MFA program in studio art should follow the procedures for applying to SIUE's graduate school, listed in the Graduate Catalog. In addition, students must follow the Art and Design Department's MFA application procedures, as listed in the Graduate Catalog:
