Just recently I have begun working on more social issues that are of importance and intriguing to me. I have been trying to understand women's roles through various media but largely focused on found object and fibers. Expectations, obligations and fears are a few narrowed topics I have been exploring. Through my art I have been considering my own sex and the rules put on women strictly due to their sex. Through art I have found a medium to express my feelings and reactions as well as a way to educate others about what is happening. In fibers I have been focusing on found objects and resurrecting a purpose to the objects I have collected. These objects that people no longer want come from flea markets, garage sales etc. for example, old family photos, buttons, scarves, aprons and so on. I am excited about continuing with these issues because it helps me to try to understand why society has these rules and my interpretations of these issues.
