| The Ceramics Area at SIUE has a thriving visiting artist program. On average the area hosts two visiting artists each semester. The visiting artist program is intended to expose students to a broad variety of techniques and approaches to working with clay. Functional potters as well as sculptors are represented each year. The visiting artist adds a new voice to the ceramics area, bringing fresh ideas, different opinions and a wealth of technical information. He or she also brings a critical eye and meets individually with graduate and advanced undergraduate students to critique with them from a new vantage point.
