One of the things that attract students to SIUE’s program is the number of graduate assistantships available. Approximately 12-15 assistantships are available each year specifically for art therapy students. Students with assistantships work 10 hours per week and receive a stipend of $400 per month plus full tuition benefits. Many departments across campus offer assistantships, so if a student does not get one within the department, an assistantship can often be obtained elsewhere.
Qualified students may also apply for a Competitive Graduate Award fellowship, which carries a stipend for the academic year and a full tuition waiver. Other financial assistance for graduate students include the Graduate Scholar Award, James Walker Graduate Scholarship, Illinois fellowships, grants, and loans. Missouri residents pay Illinois in-state tuition and fees if enrolled for up to six semester hours of credit each term.
