Saturday Studio Art Workshops

Studio instruction is once again being offered for Primary, Intermediate, and Junior/Senior High School students. All classes are designed to stimulate creative growth of students. Emphasis is on developing skills in the use of the media and in generating ideas for creative expression. Art teachers in these Saturday Studio classes are becoming certified art specialists and are art majors in the Department of Art and Design. All sessions are to be held in either Alumni Hall or the Art and Design Building. PRIMARY CHILDREN’S CLASSES, AGES 6-8:

February 18– April 14, 2012, 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
 No Class March 10, 2012.

Alumni Hall (Bldg, III) Room 3200.

This workshop explores a wide variety of topics through painting, sculpture, printmaking and crafts. Students learn about artists and what artists create. The young artists will be encouraged to use creativity to express ideas about people, events, and places with a wide variety of media. The emphasis is on meeting the artistic needs of each child. Class size is limited. Fee: $75.00.



INTERMEDIATE ART CLASSES, AGES 9-12:

February 18– April 14, 2012, 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
 No Class March 10, 2012

Alumni Hall (Bldg. III) Room 3201.

This class provides hands-on experiences in drawing, painting, collage and printmaking as well as ceramics and sculpture. Students are shown how to communicate ideas through a number of two and three-dimensional processes. Emphasis is on creativity, originality and skill development with media and process. Class size is limited. Fee: $75.00 



DRAWING/PAINTING JR/SR HIGH, AGES 13-18:


February 18– April 14, 2012, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
 No Class March 10, 2012.

This class offers intensive study in the studio areas of drawing and painting. Students are introduced to approaches used in drawing and painting with an emphasis on composition, subject selection and techniques. Students returning to the program will have the opportunity to resume their interests and direction with their work. Class size is limited. Fee: $75.00
