Applied Communication Studies


Lacey Sonderegger is an Instructor in the Department of Applied Communications Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, teaching public relations and general communication courses. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication with a focus in Public Relations from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as well as a Master of Science in Speech Communication from Southern Ilinois University Edwardsville. She is a true SIUE Cougar at heart and a proud alumna! Lacey Sonderegger worked for organizations such as Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois and YMCA. Her experience ranges from event planning to writing for the media, design, volunteer and membership recruitment and retention, and community outreach. She has consulted in the areas of employment onboarding and employment culture as well as corporate branding and development of brand focused messages. She also spent over twelve years teaching as adjunct faculty in campus and online for five colleges and universities, in addition to her work in public relations, before teaching full time at SIUE. She also currently blogs for several local businesses. At SIUE, she serves as co-advisor for the SIUE Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America, assisting members in planning professional development events and fundraising. Lacey is a mother to two dynamic girls and a wife to an extraordinarily talented musician, Mike. She likes to travel to the ocean or the mountains and stays involved with the college ministry at her church. She loves food, family, friends, her students, and adventures with her family.
