Diane Hayes
Diane Otieno Owino is an Instructor in the Department of Applied Communication Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, teaching Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Small Group Communication. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication in 1996 and her Master’s degree in Speech Communication in 2006, both from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. As an undergraduate student, she received numerous honors, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship and the Kimmel Leadership Award. As a graduate student, she was a recipient of the James Walker Graduate Scholarship Award and the Graduate Scholar Award. In 2016, she earned her Doctorate in Christian Philosophy, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Anchor Theological Seminary. Her scholarly interests include apologetics, theology, and evangelism. She has lectured in various educational settings, and is involved on campus as a Housing Office Faculty Fellow and faculty advisor to three student organizations. On a personal note, Diane is the mother of six children and has seventeen grandchildren. She is an ordained Baptist clergywoman, chaplain, Bible teacher, and preacher. She has an internet radio broadcast on C-Joy Radio. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, to travel, read, go to the movies, engage in thought provoking conversations, and watch “Star Trek.”
