Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences! Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is clearly an institution on the move, an exciting place to be. Much of the excitement is to be found within the College.
The College takes great pride in its role as an important and critical member of the vibrant community of learning which defines this university. At the core of the College are dedicated faculty and staff committed to student learning and to serving student needs. Because we highly value student learning, we strive for excellence in research, creative activities and instruction.
Our 19 academic units offer students over 50 different degrees within the arts, humanities, social and natural sciences. We work ceaselessly to monitor and improve the quality of our programs. Our College enthusiastically embraces the Senior Assignment, a nationally recognized university-wide program in which each student participates in a culminating experience tailored to the specific needs of the student's chosen discipline.
Through the General Education program and other essential courses we touch the lives of students preparing to become involved in one of the wide array of professional programs on campus. We are committed to insuring that all students receive the finest education that we can provide. Our focus is reflected in our statement of the Desired Characteristics and Capabilities of Graduates.
