The STAT Buddy Program is a benefit for freshman and sophomore STAT members. The program provides a chance to connect with a junior, senior or graduate student in a one-on-one mentoring relationship.
Your buddy can serve as a guide, a friend, and a resource who has learned the ins and outs of SIUE. You can ask questions about campus, share your ideas and concerns, meet new people and get help developing a plan of action for reaching your goals at the end of the school year.
How Much Time Is Required to Work With a Buddy?
The amount of time you commit is entirely up to you and your buddy. You may decide to communicate through weekly e-mails or texts and/or an in-person meeting once a month. The more times you meet with your buddy, the more points you will earn in the STAT Member Incentive Program. The more points you earn, the more STAT prizes you will win!
What Should I Do With My Buddy?
Talk with them, ask questions, get their advice and, most importantly, have fun! You and your buddy could meet with coffee at Starbucks, grab lunch in the MUC or hang out for a few minutes in the Quad. You could match up with other buddy partners and go to a basketball game or a theater performance on campus. Your buddy will be partnered with an alumni mentor so you could join them during one of their visits. Again, the more activities you do with your buddy, the more points you earn for the incentive program.
