The effort had a 14% increase in current payroll deduction participants as well as a 17.7% estimated increase in payroll deduction. Overall, a 14% increase in the amount of gifts and pledges was receive in the same time period from FY07 to FY08.
The year's SIUeDAY local business effort started with a kick-off breakfast on October 11th which was attended by 125 people. Each participant was given three Ed/Glen Chamber of Commerce members to visit that day and collect donation packets. A celebration reception was held the same evening where over $14,000 was collected. Last year's community effort collected $3,875.
SIUeDAY helps promote the realization of how SIUE students, faculty and staff make a difference to business owners when they begin buzzing among the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon community each fall. The day will also incorporate a campus component that allows for faculty and staff to give back to the University by showing others that they believe in what they do for SIUE.
Please call Julie Babington at 618-650-2378 for more information or to find out how your organization/business can be involved in the next SIUeDAY.
