With help from Steve Jankowski, Director of Alumni Affairs, Dr. Earleene Patterson, SOAR Director, and Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs, Nobby Emmanuel, the Black Alumni Association was approved as a sub group under the SIUE Alumni Association in March of 2009.
Mission & Governance
The mission of the SIUE Black Alumni Association is to maintain a professional and social network for African American alumni of SIUE and to assist in the recruitment and retention of African American students enrolled at SIUE. On March 27-29, 2009, an extremely successful Black Alumni Reunion Weekend was attended by over 100 SIUE alumni and former students. All of the proceeds of the weekend will go to establish an endowed scholarship fund which will help fulfill the organization's goal of providing financial support for students in need. Members of the SIUE Black Alumni Association will also serve as mentors to different on-campus student organizations.
The SIUE Black Alumni Association is governed by twelve members of the SIUE Black Alumni Association Board of Directors. If you would like more information regarding involvement with the SIUE Black Alumni Association, please contact Dontrell Thomas at email@example.com.Eligibility
The SIUE Black Alumni Association is open to African Americans who have earned at least twelve academic semester hours at SIUE.
