Ted Garcia's career spans more than four decades in television broadcasting. His most recent position was as senior vice president for television content at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). Garcia also served on the national Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) board. Prior to Garcia's position at CPB, he was general manager and chief executive officer of KNME-TV, licensed to the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. Under his leadership, KNME became the first digital broadcast operation in New Mexico in 2001.
Prior to joining KNME, Garcia was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of KETC in St. Louis. He joined KETC in 1981 as director of operations, becoming vice president of operations in 1983 and senior vice president in 1992. Prior to his work in public television, Mr. Garcia held numerous creative and management positions with the Television Stations Division of CBS. Garcia has also served as a consultant for the Department of Defense for American Forces Radio & Television Services and for Ana G. Mendez University in Puerto Rico. The recipient of five regional Emmy Awards, Garcia also works with the New Mexico Broadcasters Association Board of Directors and the New Mexico Commission for Public Broadcasting. He is also a member of the 2010 SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame.
