Alumni, we need your help! Please join us in spreading
the word to future SIUE alumni about the many
scholarships available to them through the SIUE Alumni
Association. The SIUE Alumni Association provides a
number of scholarships each year to new and current
students, including the Alumni Legacy Scholarship, the
Stalschmidt Family Legacy Scholarship and the new SIUE
Alumni Association Board of Directors Scholarship, which
will be awarded to students who have demonstrated
exemplary leadership skills and campus and community
involvement. |
On Saturday, Feb. 16, join the SIUE Women’s Basketball
team and the St. Louis affiliate of Komen for the Cure
in the fight against breast cancer. Alumni are invited
to enjoy food and drinks in our Alumni Hospitality Room
before and after the game against Austin Peay State
University, and during halftime. Room opens at 3:30
p.m.; game starts at 4 p.m. |

Global Brew in Edwardsville, Ill. on Thursday, Feb. 7
from 6-9 p.m. Co-owned by alumnus Ryan High '07, Global
Brew is home to 50 beers on tap, more than 200 bottled

The
student-made video “Campus of Motion: SIUE” is a must-see
for all alumni and friends of SIUE. This time-lapse
montage showcases not only the landscapes, buildings and
people of SIUE, but also the incredible talent and
creativity of its students. Sophomore CMIS student Tim
Marten from Raymond, Ill. created the video using still
shots he took for an Art & Design course in Fall 2012.

The School received a preliminary status of continued full accreditation with no reporting recommendations from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Site Visit Panel, pending full commission review. SIU School of Dental Medicine Breaks Ground on Simulation Lab |

Three
faculty members at the SIU School of Dental Medicine
recently collaborated to earn $28,000, funded through the
SIUE Excellence in Undergraduate Education (EUE) Award
Program, to support the purchase of a virtual dissection
table. Dr. Anita Joy, assistant professor and section head
of Anatomy; Dr. Dan Welch, assistant professor in the
section of Anatomy; and Dr. Kevin Rowland, associate
professor and section head of Physiology submitted the
proposal and were among only 14 recipients to earn an EUE

On November
30, 2012, Southern Illinois University President Glenn
Poshard, SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe and SIU School
of Dental Medicine Dean Bruce Rotter broke ground for the
SIU School of Dental Medicine’s new simulation laboratory.
Nearly 50 supporters gathered at the site, located on the
corner of College Avenue and Annex Street on the Alton
Campus. The $9.5 million facility will serve as a primary
site of instruction for approximately 100 preclinical
dental students. Along with the simulation lab, the 18,000
square foot addition includes a ceramic reconstruction
room, x-ray room, casting and dispensing areas and the
replacement of the school’s fitness center. Read more on

| The SIU SDM's Continuing Education Cruise and Celebration will leave New York City for Bermuda Sunday, July 21. This seven night cruise aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line's Breakaway will provide a fantastic setting for the two day conference. The Continuing Education programs will offer information on "Mechanical Considerations of Implant Assisted and Supported Prostheses in the Edentulous Patient" and "Critical Thought Processes and Decisions in the Aesthetic Zone for Implant Supported Prostheses."
