  • **Paul M. Abert ('88 BS, '93 MBA) is the vice president of commercial loans at TheBANK of Edwardsville.
  • **Dr. Garry Adams ('95 BS, '97 MBA) was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Management Department of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
  • Ronald L. Adler ('78 MBA) is the president and CEO of Laurdan Associates, Inc., a human resource management consulting firm in Potomac MD. Adler has more than 36 years of human resources consulting experience working with US and international firms, small businesses and nonprofits, insurance companies and brokers, and employer organizations. He is co-developer of the Employment-Labor Law Audit and is a frequent lecturer and author on HR management and workplace issues.
  • Leann R. Eilert Aloisi ('01 BSA, '08 MBA) and her husband Jim had their first child.
  • Josh C. Andres ('06 BSA, '08 MBA) is currently working at Scheffel & Company, and is working on becoming a Senior Accountant.
  • Donna J. Arras ('88 BS) is a manufacturing specialist for the Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center. She also volunteers her time to help out with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the Freeburg-St. Clair Country area.
  • Arif S. Ashfaq ('99 BS) works for KPMG in their CFO Advisory Services group in Short Hills, NJ.
  • Marc A. Bargiel ('09 BS) works for Country Classic Cars in Staunton, IL as a sales manager. He and his wife Audrey reside in Bethalto, IL.
  • Jeremy A. Bearth ('04 BSA, '09 MBA) was promoted to accounting manager for Gundlach Equipment Corp. He is responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Angela M. Beck ('09 BSA) works at the DFAS.
  • Harold L. Beck ('99 MS) published his first book, “Henry and Anthony.” The book is compiled from stories he would tell in the classroom when the students would get frustrated. Beck teaches statistics for the School of Business at SIUE. The book took 4 ½ years to complete and was inspired by his own experiences.
  • Karen S. Alemond Beckemeyer ('95 BS, '99 BSA) and her husband had their third daughter, Camille. Their other two children are Anne Marie, 6, and Celia, 2. Karen is currently working part time for RubinBrown.
  • Stephanie B. Behymer ('07 BSA, '09 MSA) works for RubinBrown.
  • Roger A. Belshe ('74 BA) was the first life-insurance specialist in the nation to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Hartford, one of the oldest and largest insurance companies in the country. He was chosen from more than 200 of the company’s sales force and is credited with working with financial professionals on the sale of 1,400 policies worth more than $1 billion to the beneficiaries of the policyholders. After joining The Hartford in 1997, he has earned the right to attend all the company’s annual Honors Conferences since then. Roger and his wife Janet reside in Edwardsville.
  • Kristin T. Giebe Bettorf ('02 BSA) is a senior tax consultant at Wellpoint, Inc.
  • Julia A. Biggs ('09 BSA) works at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
  • Thomas L. Biggs, III ('06 BSA) works for Voellinger, Simpson, Dolan & Associates in Swansea, IL.
  • *Joel M. Blaies ('06 BS) married Yenny Wijaa and works as a junior auditor for the Illinois Agriculture Auditing Association.
  • Edward J. Blake, Jr. ('77 MBA) from the law firm of Blake & Allen, P.C. is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. The mission of the group is to establish members as the providers of legal advocacy, guidance and services to enhance the lives of people as they age as well as individuals with special needs.
  • Sarah C. Coulter Bouchette ('03 BSA, '04 MSA) and her husband had their first baby, Gabriel.
  • Ann M. Rafferty Bollone ('90 MBA) was elected to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri board of directors. She and her husband David reside in Belleville, IL.
  • Donna M. Hirth Brandon ('88 BSA) is the manager of Larson Allen’s tax group in St. Louis, MO.
  • Mary E. Markle Brenner ('01 MSA, '02 MBA) is living in Katy, Texas while spending time with her six grandchildren. One of her daughters recently graduated from SIUE.
  • Bree A. Brinkoetter ('07 BSA, '08 MBA) started at BKD after graduation.
  • Michael T. Brokering ('98 BSA) and his wife Sarah had their first child, Tyler. Mike is working at Diel Forguson.

  • Heather L. Goodman Browning ('01 BS, '04 MSA) started in the internal audit department but was quickly promoted to project manager at Siemens. She and her husband had a baby boy.
  • William E. Broyles, Jr. ('09 MBA) works for CSC as a deputy program manager in O’Fallon, IL. He and his wife Beverly reside in O’Fallon, IL.
  • Matt L. Buhs ('94 BS) works as an account manager in the Collinsville, IL branch office of Frost.
  • Chad E. Burns ('00 BSA) changed from internal audit to becoming a financial advisor with the Belleville office of Edward Jones. He and his wife had twins, so they now have three children under the age of three.
  • Andrea M. Butler ('08 MBA) was promoted from special assets officer to assistant vice president of special assets at TheBANK of Edwardsville. She also acts as TheBANK’s legal liaison for cases relating to consumer loans, as well as manages bank-owned properties. She has been employed by TheBANK since 1997 when she started as a secretary assisting loan administration and worked with the loan administration and special assets functions.
  • **Nathan M. Butler ('00 BSA) works for Young Dental Manufacturing as an operations manager. He and his wife Kristin reside in Columbia, IL.
  • Bethany M. Goodman Butters ('09 BS) works at the Regions Bank on the Scott Air Force Base as a vault teller. She and her husband Kyle live in Lebanon, IL.
  • Casandra O. White Carney ('04 BSA, '05 MSA) and her husband Matt moved back from Kansas City and bought a home in Hamel. She is the manager of financial planning and analysis for American Recreation Products.
  • Joseph M. Chappell ('92 MBA) received the A.F. McKenzie Achievement Award for his sales and service efforts for the past year. Joseph is an Edward Jones advisor and received the firm’s Client Service Excellence award.
  • Joseph R. Chinnici ('83 MBA, '06 BS) was named to Overture Networks’ Board of Directors. Joseph brings over 30 years of financial experience to the board. Overture Networks is an established industry leader with Carrier Ethernet services that has a reputation for helping service providers and enterprises increase revenue and cut unnecessary costs. He was the former CFO at Ciena and has served on the board of directors for Sourcefire, Brix Networks, Optium Corporation, Guilford Pharmaceuticals, TR Systems and OTG Software.
  • Scott E. Coleridge ('78 MBA) joined the Serica Board of Directors. Serica Technologies, Inc. is a medical device company focused on the development of silk-based biomaterial platforms for use in tissue repair. He has spent more than 20 years founding and leading early stage life science companies. His recent positions include CEO of Synthon Chiragenics and Executive Vice President, FEI Women’s Health, developer of the first and only non-hormonal female contraceptive. He also served as CEO and co-founder of Kingston Diagnostics, developer of the first whole-blood cholesterol test.
  • **Richard D. Conner ('89 MBA) was chosen as a member of the executive committee for the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois. The committee guides the overall operations of the Leadership Council, helping to set the organization’s agenda and focus the council’s efforts on key issues to support its mission of fostering regional economic development.
  • Mary L. Cox ('78 MBA) left the position of executive director of the Alton YWCA. She was a member of the YWCA board of directors before ascending to the post of executive director in June 2007.
  • Marcella R. Curry ('00 MSA) is controller of both the Collinsville and Hazelwood Sanford Brown campuses.
  • Stephanie F. Armstrong Dahl ('02 BSA) and her husband had a baby boy. They live in New Orleans where she is an accounting supervisor for one of Monsanto’s Round-Up plants.
  • Deanna L. Daughhetee ('88 MBA) was named one of the 2009 Most Influential Business Women by the St. Louis Business Journal. Deanna has led American Equity Mortgage since 1999 and has owned the business since 2006. They are focusing on expansion by opening a new office in Chicago, returning to Denver, and potential growth on the East Coast and in the Northwest.
  • Timothy J. Delabre ('01 BSA, '02 MSA) and his wife Mary had their first child, Andrew.
  • Victoria A. Gipson Dixon ('07 BSA, '08 MSA) got married and bought a home in Eureka, MO.
  • *Laura N. Piepert Doll ('05 BSA, '06 MSA) passed the CPA exam on her first try. She currently works at Scheffel & Company in Edwardsville, IL.
  • Erin L. Donnay ('05 BSA, '09 MSA) works at Soft Surroundings in St. Louis, MO as a staff accountant.
  • Justin A. Draper ('09 BSA) works for the IRS.
  • Sarah M. Petitt Duckwitz ('00 BSA) is the controller for a real estate development company in Kansas City, MO called Foutch Brothers. She and her husband have two children.
  • Robert D. Dumstorff ('03 BSA) was promoted to manager at RubinBrown’s Corporate Assurance Services Group.
  • Mathew G. Eilerts ('09 MBA) is a process manager for Anheuser-Busch InBev in St. Louis, MO.
  • Dale E. Emge ('82 MBA) is the CEO of Permian Plastics in O’Fallon, MO where a 15,000-square-foot expansion of production and warehouse space is enabling Permian to meet the “just in time” demands of its clients. With the expansion, they are focusing on clients with high-precision requirements and avoiding traditional industries such as automotive. They expect growth of 20 percent in 2010.
  • Amanda L. Heusinkeveld Fields ('04 BSA) works as an accountant at Water Remediation Technology in Colorado. She and her husband bought a house in the Denver area and have a daughter named Chloe.
  • Jason R. Finke ('04 BSA, '05 MSA) is a financial specialist/senior financial analyst for Ameren. He got married in the Bahamas and moved into a new home in Fairview, IL.
  • **Rita L. Finney ('96 BSA) is a senior vice president of Savantage Solutions in the Washington, DC area.
  • Frank H. Fisher, Jr. ('09 BS) works in the purchasing department for the Morris University Center at SIUE.
  • Melissa K. Ford ('08 BSA, '09 MSA) is a staff accountant for Kemper CPA Group in Harrisburg, IL.
  • Nathan D. Franklin ('98 BSA, '07 MBA) is a controller for Provision Living, LLC. He and his wife Jennifer had their first child, Cameron, in February of 2008.
  • Erica R. Oertwig Gallina ('02 BS) married Matthew L. Gallina on July 4, 2009. She is employed by PohlmanUSA Court Reporting in St. Louis, MO as a billing specialist. He is employed as a firefighter for the Ozark Fire district in Ozark, MO.
  • Michael C. Gavin ('09 MBA) is the regional manager for Maverick Technologies in Columbia, IL. He and his wife Dawn live in O’Fallon, IL.
  • Christi L. Castile Geggus ('00 BSA, '01 MSA) works at Tzinberg & Dowdy in Edwardsville, IL. She and her husband have two children.
  • Lacey J. Langenfeld Gelsinger ('04 BSA, '05 MSA) is a senior internal auditor wish ESCO.
  • Jason H. Geminn ('97 BSA, '01 MBA) is a manager with BKD in St. Louis, MO.
  • Sowmitra K. Ghosh ('09 MBA) is the project manager for Sigma-Aldrich in St. Louis, MO. He and his wife Evelyn reside in Valley Park, MO.

  • Nicole (Nikki) Grashoff ('07 BS) and Kevin Werner ('06 BS) were married on June 20, 2009 in Madison, Illinois at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
  • **Jeffrey R. Greene ('73 BS) is a managing director at UHY.
  • Jeffrey A. Gross ('07 MBA) works in the healthcare industry group of LarsonAllen.
  • Denise M. Holle Guetterman ('92 BSA) is a music director. She and her husband Ned C. Guetterman (BS ’94) reside in Edwardsville, IL.
  • *Sharon R. Gugliotta ('08 BSA) works as the business specialist at Southwestern Illinois College’s Success Center II.
  • Major General Daniel A. Hahn ('83 MBA) retired from active duty from the U.S. Army on October 1, 2009. At the ceremony at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. on August 17, 2009, he was presented with the Distinguished Service Medal, a Presidential Certificate of Appreciation and Certificate of Retirement. His wife, Carol, received a Decoration of Distinguished civilian Service Award and Certificate of Appreciation. He and his wife have a daughter, Jennifer, and a son, Thomas, and two grandsons.
  • Leanne E. Halemeyer ('01 BSA, '02 MSA) married in June of 2009 and works for RubinBrown.
  • Betsey E. Hall ('07 BS) has worked for U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin in Marion, IL since January 2008. She is studying for her Masters in Political Science at SIUC. She resides in Carbondale, IL.
  • *Shauna Hamby ('07 BS, '08 MBA) is an Associate Health Economics Reporting Analyst with Correctional Medical Services (CMS) in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
  • Sara B. Lotter Hampton ('98 BSA) is senior manager of external reporting at Energizer in St. Louis, MO.
  • Carolyn A. Roth Harpole ('89 BSA) works at UHY in St. Louis, MO.
  • Jean R. Harris ('98 BSA) and her husband Mark built a house near Smithton, IL in 2008. Jean works at TSI Engineering as a manager. Their son graduated from high school in 2009.
  • Jessica A. Harris ('08 BSA) works at Boeing and is enjoying her experiences there.
  • Jessica L. Logan Haugen ('04 BS, '09 MBA) is a performance specialist for American Water in Alton, IL. She lives in East Alton, IL with her husband Travis.
  • James M. Heinen, Sr. ('76 MA) joined Raymond James & Associates, Inc. in January, 2009. The company opened a second office in O’Fallon, IL, where he works as the Vice President of Investments. Raymond James & Associates, Inc. is a subsidiary of Raymond James Financial.
  • Jeffry A. Henschel ('09 BS) is a Customer Service Agent with Lowes Co. He lives in Edwardsville, IL.
  • Theresa M. Herbstreit ('01 BSA, '02 MSA) was promoted to Controller at Olin Credit Union.
  • Rebekah Herring ('07 BSA) has been working for Fleishman-Hillard in St Louis since graduating from SIUE. She is a senior accounting specialist in the financial reporting group. She currently resides in Swansea, IL.
  • Paulette M. Heuer ('06 BSA, '07 MSA) passed the CPA exam and is an audit associate with KPMG.
  • Anthony T. Holdener, Jr. ('80 BS) is the senior vice president of commercial banking for Commerce Bank at the Belleville, IL office where he has worked for three years. He has 40 years of experience as a banker in the Belleville area.
  • Chelsea R. Camfield Hoelscher ('08 BSA) married Curtis “Drew” Hoelscher on September 26, 2009 in Decatur, IL. She is employed by West and Company, LLC and he is employed by Missouri American Water Department.
  • Anthony (Bud) S. Hollenkamp ('00 BSA) and his wife Lori had their second child, Kendall. Their other son Dominic is four. Bud is a manager at BKD where he specializes in banking.
  • Christopher A. Howard ('07 MSA) passed the CFP exam and is in the Controllership Services Group at Lopata, Flegel, & Company.
  • Lynette M. Schrage Huegen ('00 BSA, '01 MSA) is working at Prairie State Generating Company in Illinois. Her husband Scott A. Huegen (BSA ’00) is the superintendent at Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course in Okawville, IL. Their daughter Alaina is three.
  • Emily E. Irvine ('08 BSA) is the assistant director of business operations and human resources for the Hayner Public Library District in Alton, IL.
  • *Olanrewaju O. Iwayemi ('03 MS, '05 MSA) passed the CFE and CIA exams on his first attempt. He is enjoying married life and working in the internal audit department at HUD.
  • Kristine T. Polo Jarden ('05 MBA) is busy raising her son Peter, serving as the director of the Entrepreneurship Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Bunker Hill Township Clerk, chairperson of Friends of Bunker Hill Public Library, and secretary of the University of Illinois Extension Service in Macoupin County. Her husband Anthony is a partner in a Bunker Hill grain and dairy farm operation. Playing sports helped Kristine develop leadership skills and self discipline that she can apply to regular life.
  • Gregory A. Johnson ('82 BS) became the executive director of the Illinois State Dental Society.
  • Gregory B. Karcher ('96 BS, '97 BS) and his wife Ellyn were married and live in Glen Carbon, IL. Greg works for Summit Strategies.
  • Queen E. King ('00 BSA, '03 MSA) is an accounting manager at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital in California.
  • Sandra J. Knee ('93 BS ’93) and her husband Chris are the proud parents of their 10-year old daughter who played the role of Molly in the 2009 Season production of “Annie” at The Muny.
  • Aaron V. Koch ('08 BSA, '09 MSA) joined the internal audit department at HUD after he completed his MSA. He resides in Swansea, IL.
  • Brad A. Koerkenmeier ('09 MBA) is an electrical engineer for the US Air Force. Brad lives in New Baden, IL.
  • Michael J. Korte ('77 BS) was elected to Bridgeway Behavioral Health’s board of directors.
  • Brett W. Krug ('03 MBA) is employed at Solutions AEC. While working at the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center’s Confluence Field Station, Brett and several other tradesmen workers helped to rescue a man from a burning car after the driver veered off a nearby roadway and hit a light standard.
  • Karen A. Lanter ('01 BSA, '02 MSA) is a financial analysis manager at Maritz.
  • Joan E. Lebkuecher ('09 MBA) is the CFO and treasurer for Hortica Insurance & Employee Benefits in Edwardsville, IL. She resides in Glen Carbon, IL.
  • Jee-Chung A. Lee ('83 MS) is an assistant vice president of the Mega International Commercial Bank Tu-Cheng Branch where he supervises daily operations of deposit, wire transfer, currency exchange, etc. In his spare time, he is involved in outdoor activities and reading. He currently resides in Taiwan.
  • Kristen D. Buehrer Levi ('02 BS, '05 BSA) is a staff accountant at Fred Weber Construction.
  • Lindsay M. Burns Link ('05 BSA, '06 MSA) got married in May of 2008.
  • Breea J. Lisko ('09 MBA) is a Captain in the US Air Force. She and her husband Scott live in Papillion, NE.
  • **Jane W. Whorton Louer ('85 MBA) has been accredited as a Leadership Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional by the US Green Build Council. Louer can offer building owners and their architectural team insight to create a greener environment and earn LEED credits.
  • **Daniel J. Lowery ('73 BS) was elected President of the Massage Envy Regional Developers Association. He recently had his third grandson.
  • Yali N. Lu ('03 BSA, '04 MSA) was promoted to senior auditor at Cox Enterprises and bought a home in Atlanta, GA.
  • Julie R. Lutz ('01 BSA, '02 MSA) became the accounting manager at HD Waterworks in St. Louis, MO.
  • Kelly M. Malson ('93 BSA) is CFO at World Acceptance Corporation in Greenville, SC. She recently purchased her future retirement home on the lake in nearby Anderson, SC.
  • Steven H. Mandeville ('06 MSA) got married in Mexico and was promoted to senior at BKD.
  • Erika E. Neher Martinez ('00 BSA, '01 MSA) and her husband Dario had a daughter, Ella. They live in Edwardsville, IL and Erika works in the tax department at the Reinsurance Group of America.

  • Shelly L. Morrison ('08 BS) won an essay contest sponsored by Coca Cola and MTV. She was given the opportunity to do interviews on the red carpet for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
  • **Dr. John W. Mosser ('81 BS) was named Bentley University’s Vice President of Development of Corporate and Alumni Relations in June 2009. Prior to joining Bentley University, he played a central role in the development of an extremely successful annual planning model for major gift solicitation in a $4 billion campaign for Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he was the Director of Major Gifts.He and his wife Jane reside in Massachusetts.
  • Heather Mueller-Jones ('00 BS) is an attorney with the law firm Knapp, Ohl, Green & Marron in Edwardsville, IL.
  • Timothy C. Musholt ('93 MBA, '08 BSA) works at Katz, Sapper, & Miller in Indianapolis, IN.
  • Ashley N. Nelson ('09 BS) is a cocktail waitress for Harrah’s Entertainment in St. Louis, MO.
  • Scott M. Niehaus ('00 BSA) was promoted to manager at BKD.
  • Jessica C. Roehl Ohlendorf ('06 BSA) and her husband had a baby girl, Kyla. Jessica works at Spectrum Healthcare Resources as a staff accountant.

  • *Jeremy M. Plank ('05 MBA, '08 BSA) is a partner with Dormus Properties, LLC.
  • **Bradford L. Pulaski ('77 BS) was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by the East Alton Rotary Club for his outstanding service to the community and club. The award is named in honor of the Rotary International founder and is the highest honor a local club can bestow upon a member.
  • Ashley M. Quisumbing ('09 BS) is a student trainee at DITCO. She resides in New Baden, IL.
  • **Cynthia S. Gale Reinhardt ('83 BS) had an article published in “Heritage Illinois,” a magazine publication of the Illinois State Historical Society. Her article, “The Cooperative Village of Leclaire, 1890-1934,” details the history of the village of Leclaire that is now part of the city of Edwardsville and a National Historic District. Reinhardt is a commissioner of the Edwardsville Historic Preservation Commission and a member of Friends of Leclaire Board of Directors. She recently retired from her position with the SIUE Bookstore after almost three decades of service.
  • Kevin F. Reynolds ('08 BSA, '09 MBA) joined Stone Carlie as a staff auditor.
  • Kevin J. Richter ('80 BS) was appointed chairperson for The Friends of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital board.
  • **Edward A. Rico ('94 MBA) was named resident physician at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He and his wife Kathryn reside in Chicago.
  • Karen M. Stirnaman Ripplemeyer ('06 BSA) married TJ Ripplemeyer in August of 2008. She graduated from St. Louis University Law School in May of 2009 and currently works for Ernst & Young.

  • Ric Johns ('81 BS Art) was inducted into the Illinois Football Association Hall of Fame in Chicago in April. Johns, the head coach at Belleville West, guided Calhoun High to Class A state championships in 1992-93 and coach the warriors from 1981-96.
  • Robert Johnson ('82 BS Mass Communications) won the Dr. Paul and Duddy Costello Memorial Award for Mixed Media during the 61st Annual Currier Museum of Art NHAA Juried Exhibition in Manchester, NH.

  • **Jody O'Guinne ('02 MPA) is the Police Chief for the City of Carbondale, Illinois.
  • Darin Pritchett ('95 BS Mass Comm) has recently been named sports director of the WSBT Radio Group in Mishawaka, Indiana. Darin is in his 10th year at WSBT. His duties include play by play voice of the University of Notre Dame hockey team, pre game show host for Notre Dame football, and daily sports talk show host. Darin is also a 4-time winner of the Associated Press Indiana Major Market Play-by-Play man of the year award including in 2009.
  • Eugene Redmond ('64 BA English) donated more than 200,000 images, posters and photographs to SIUE’s Lovejoy Library this summer. This extensive collection covers more than 40 years and documents Redmond’s time with legends in the literary world, Civil Rights movement, and historical figures. He is an emeritus professor from SIUE, retiring from the Department of English Language and Literature in 2007.
  • Laura Reed ('97 BS Political Science) has partnered with Jan Carpenter on a new venture, Cork Tree Creative. The new company will provide graphic design, e-marketing, public relations, writing services, advertising, global branding and internal corporate communications.
  • Meredith Sapp ('06 BS Mass Comm) works in the Marketing Department at Broadview Security in Dallas, TX.
  • Joe Silkwood ('97 MPA) is coaching baseball at Alton Marquette High School. He is still the treasurer for the Village of East Alton.
  • Dr. Anna Smith ('00 BS Biological Sciences, '04 DMD) owns Dentistry with TLC which was the Small Business of the Year award recipient from the River Bend Growth Association.
  • **P. Dewayne Staats ('75 BA Mass Communications) was one of 10 people selected for the inaugural East Alton-Wood River High School Alumni Hall of Fame. Staats is the play-by-play television commentator for the MLB Tampa Bay Rays.
  • Michael Szeles ('06 BS Theater and Dance) was nominated for a New York Innovative Theater Award for his work in an Off-Off-Broadway production. He and the rest of the cast of The Most Damaging Wound were nominated for the IT Outstanding Ensemble award. Szeles was also nominated for an IT Outstanding Solo Performance in 2006.

  • Dr. Michael Edwards ('95 DMD) operates Optima Dental in Union, Missouri and the Midwest Center for Craniofacial Pain in St. Peters. He is also the inventor of the “Dental Button,” a device which gives power to the patient to stop dental anxiety by enabling them to stop the dentist’s drill.
  • *Dr. Brandon Maddox ('97 BS Biological Sciences, '01 DMD), who practices dentistry in Springfield, Illinois, has been named the 2009 winner of the State Dental Society Foundation’s Greek Leadership Award. Dr. Maddox has served as Secretary, Treasurer, President-Elect, and President of the GV Black District Dental Society.
  • Dr. Ron Schefdore ('83 DMD), is the founder of Americans Against Diabetes. For the third year, the AAD is partnering with the National Center for Public Research to provide free FDA approved at-home diabetes risk assessment tests to 100,000 Chicago school children.

  • Leroy Fritz ('67 EDSP) was recognized with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, among other honors, for his actions during World War II. Fritz retired from the Alton School District in 1981 and just marked his 50th year in the piano-tuning business.

Mike and his wife Verbal ('93 BS) donate a scholarship each year to the School of Engineering. Verbal is the Vice President of BHMG Engineers and has a Master’s in Engineering Management.
  • Geri Boyer ('91 BSE Civil Engineering) is founder and managing partner of Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC. Geri holds a BS in Mining Engineering from SIUC and a MS in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University- New Orleans. Geri serves the School of Engineering as a member of the Civil Engineering Advisory Council.
  • Alicia DeShaiser ('07 BS Civil Engineering) finished fourth in the women’s javelin throw at the United States Track and Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore. Alicia holds the SIUE school record in the javelin throw with a toss of 164 feet, nine inches (50.23m), as well as being a 2006 first team All-American in softball for the Cougars. She is employed at Oates Associates.
  • Paul Galeski ('83 BSE Electrical Engineering.) is the President and CEO of MAVERICK Technologies, LLC. A three-time finalist for the St. Louis region Entrepreneur of the Year award, Paul was named one of Fast Forward's "40 under 40," a listing of the top young executives in the St. Louis area.
  • Kay Guse ('88 BSE Industrial Engineering) is the Director of Engineering, Operations and Technology Policies at the Boeing Company. Kay is married to Paul Guse ('83 BS).
  • Jim Heinz ('83 BS Construction) is the Executive Vice President of WPCS, International. Jim is the past chairman of the Construction Advisory Council and serves on the School of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

  • Jim Middleton ('93 BS Civil Engineering) is the MODOT Project Manager for the new Mississippi River Bridge. Jim has visited campus to speak to the ASCE student chapter and the Summer Outreach Program campers several times throughout the year.
  • Miles Musick ('08 BS Mechanical Engineering) married Lisa Cook (’08 BS) in St. Louis on June 20th. Mikes and Lisa met on move-in day in Prairie Hall in August of 2004. Miles is a Quality Engineer at John Deere and is responsible for Deere’s newest product release, the Self-Propelled Windrower. Miles and Lisa reside in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
  • Matt Pfund ('96 BS Construction) is a Project Manager at Tarlton Corporation. Matt and his wife, Kristen own Pfund Construction which focuses on residential projects. Matt and Kristen live in Edwardsville with their three children. Matt is the President of the Construction Alumni Association.
  • Jason Richter ('07 BS Mechanical Engineering) married Nicole Keckritz on August 8, 2009 in Aviston, IL. He currently works for Emerson Motor Technologies in St. Louis.
  • Tyria Riley ('02 BS Electrical Engineering) is a Ph.D. candidate at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Tyria holds an M.S. in Systems Engineering from Missouri S & T and was awarded Six Sigma Black Belt honors by Villanova University. She is employed at The Boeing Company as an Electrical Subsystems Wiring & Integration Engineer. Tyria is also the St. Louis Section Chair of IEEE and is actively involved in the St. Louis chapter of NSBE.
  • Andy Riva ('09 BS Construction Management) received LEED Accredited Professional Certification in July 2009. LEED accreditation recognizes professionals who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles.
  • Jim Roth ('87 BSE Civil Engineering) is a Civil Engineer and Senior Vice President for Hurst-Rosche Engineers, Inc. Jim resides in Fairview Heights, IL with his wife Lisa and children Ali and Jake.
  • Bruce Schopp ('82 BSE Civil Engineering) has been appointed the President of the Illinois Section of Professional Engineers (ISPE). Bruce is the chief structural engineer and firm principal at Oates Associates, Inc. Bruce lives with his wife Kristine and their three children in Freeburg, IL. Bruce is a member of the School of Engineering Advisory Board.
  • Ryan Sheehan ('05 BS Computer Science) married Jadrien Komnick (’05 BS, Electrical Engineering) July 11th, 2009 in Bethalto, IL. They reside in Naperville, IL.
  • Levi Sorrill ('07 BS Civil Engineering) is employed at MiTek Industries, Inc. in the Research and Development Department.
  • Larry Thomason, Jr. ('93 BS Civil Engineering) received the Richard B. Teitelman Distinguished Service Award from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. Larry works for the Kaskaskia Engineering Group three days a week and performs pro-bono legal services for LSEM two days a week.
  • Jenna Toennies ('08 BS Mechanical Engineering) received an NSF (National Science Foundation) Graduate Research Fellowship to work on robotics in the Ph.D. program at Vanderbilt University.
  • Stephanie Travis ('95 BS Construction) is the Manager of Plant Operations at Alton Memorial Hospital. Stephanie recently received her MBA from Lindenwood University.
  • Raymond Walter ('86 BSE Electrical Engineering, ’93 MS Electrical Engineering) is a Targeting and Weapons Systems Engineer at The Boeing Company. Raymond is earning his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from SIUE.
  • Ryan Zorko '’93 BS Electrical Engineering) is an Engineering Manager at Anheuser-Busch InBev. He received his MBA with a concentration in Finance from the Olin School of Business at Washington University. He is married and has two boys.

  • Janice Becherer ('08 MS) was named as Chief Nurse Executive at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
  • Staci Beck ('92 BS) gave a presentation on behalf of Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, entitled, “Ambulatory Procedure Center,” at the AORN National Multispecialty Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
  • Vera Bloomquist ('89 BS) was recognized by Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois for attaining her Medical/Surgical Nursing Certification.
  • Michele Brown ('90 MS) was inducted into the SIUE Alumni Association Hall of Fame for the School of Nursing on October 10, 2009.

  • Bethany Clutts ('08 BS) is employed with Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois. Bethany’s article entitled "Recognition and Management of Complications Following Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass: A Guide for Health Care Workers in Non-Bariatric Hospitals” was published in the December 2009 issue of MEDSURG Nursing.
  • Ed Curtis ('75 BS) was inducted into the SIUE Alumni Association Hall of Fame for the School of Nursing on October 10, 2009.
  • Ann Donze ('94 MS) presented, “Clinical Practice Guidelines: Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice,” at the National Nurses Mother-Baby Conference in Washington, D.C. Additionally, she made other presentations at the regional and national level, as well as co-authoring the article, “Fad, Frenzy, or Future? A Review of the Institute of Medicine’s Report of the Direction of Evidence-based Practice,” which was published in the Neonatal Network. Ann is a Nurse Practitioner at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
  • Bridget Duah ('09 BS) is employed with Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on the Short Stay Surgery Floor.
  • Vicki M. Ellinger-Colonius ('06 MS) works for St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois as a Clinical Documentation and Coding Nurse Manager.

  • Johanna Schloemann ('84 BS) received funding from the SLCH Foundation to co-conduct a study at St. Louis Children’s Hospital called, “Comparison of Noise Levels in Private Rooms vs. Open Pod Unit Designs in a NICU Internal Research Grant.”
  • Ashlee Sloman ('07 MS) is an instructional assistant professor for Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

  • Karen Stefaniak, Ph.D., R.N., ('67 BS) retired as the chief nursing officer/associate hospital director and assistant dean for clinical affairs at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. She currently serves as assistant professor in the UK College of Nursing.
