The SIUE Alumni Association is governed by a 23-member Board of Directors, most of whom are alumni of SIUE. Board members serve for 3 to 6 years and decide the strategic direction of the Association, including events, advocacy activities, alumni services and budget. The board, which strives to represent SIUE's diverse alumni population, holds four annual meetings which are typically scheduled for the first Thursday evening of the month.
