SIUE is very pleased to be a 2010 recipient of an ADVANCE IT-Catalyst award. “IT-Catalyst awards are designed to support … efforts to conduct institutional self-assessment activities, such as data collection and analysis and policy review, in order to identify specific issues in the recruitment, retention and promotion of women faculty in STEM academics within an institution of higher education. This type of work is fundamental for institutions that plan to undertake institutional transformation.” – ADVANCE Program Homepage
Increasing pressure on STEM disciplines, institutional changes, and increasing expectations for scholarship make this a critical moment to examine issues of gender equity at SIUE, a comprehensive university located in the greater St. Louis metropolitan region. This ADVANCE IT-Catalyst award will allow SIUE faculty and administrators to marshal resources to address gender equity in a data-driven, comprehensive, and integrated manner.
