Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA)

If you have a passion for research or scholarly activities, you need not wait until graduate school to get involved in a research or creative project.

SIUE’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA) offers you the opportunity to design, conduct and assist with scholarly projects that have an impact for the better on our world. From science and nursing to anthropology and the fine arts, SIUE undergraduates are participating in research and creative projects in virtually every field of study.
 

URCA Assistants

URCA Assistants work approximately nine hours per week for one semester on faculty-led research or creative activities.

Why Become a URCA Assistant?

• potential to receive a monetary award of $1,000
• potential to receive course credit
   

URCA Associates

URCA Associates conduct their own independent research project or creative activity under the guidance of a faculty mentor. 

Why Become a URCA Associate?

• $2,400 award for the academic year
• opportunity to work closely with faculty mentor
• development of leadership skills
• possibility of publishing project results in professional journals
• plus many more opportunities
