Admitted Transfer Student Checklist

We’re excited you’ve made the decision to transfer to SIUE. We hope to provide you with the most welcoming and stress free transition possible. Please review the following information carefully to complete enrollment at SIUE.


Apply and be admitted – Congratulations!

Schedule and Take Appropriate Placement Test(s) – Placement test should be completed as soon as possible and prior to your academic advising appointment in order to allow for proper advisement. Please refer below for Placement Examination Information.
Review eTRACS – Online Orientation – will provide you with valuable information. Modules 1 & 2 will better prepare you prior to registering for classes at SIUE. Please refer to the information below to access eTRACS.
Schedule an Advising Appointment ( – You will need to contact the Office of Academic Advising at (618) 650-3701 to schedule a one-hour appointment with an Academic Advisor. If you have been directly declared into your chosen major, please contact the appropriate department for advisement.
Activate your e-ID – Your e-ID is most important in assisting you as you enroll at SIUE. You will need to request a password at
Check Your SIUE Email Account ( – Your SIUE email is especially important because financial aid, payment information and updates will be sent to it.
Check CougarNet ( – CougarNet is the secure way to manage your personal, academic and financial aid information. Also, use CougarNet to check details regarding any college level credit you would be transferring to SIUE. Approximately 15 working days after (if not sooner), you can check CougarNet to review your transfer credit. For more details about this process contact the Transfer Center (
Apply for Financial Aid ( – We advise you to do this as soon as possible. You can also check out the scholarships available to incoming fall transfers on the Financial Aid web page
Apply for University Housing ( – Please refer below for more information on applying for University Housing.
Complete and Submit the Health Immunization Form ( – The health immunization form must be completed by the first day of attendance.
Submit Final High School Transcripts – Submit your transcripts before the start of the term you intend to enroll. The transcripts should show all courses completed and be sent to:

Placement Test Information

Determine whether you need to take Placement Tests. The University offers a variety of placement tests in Intermediate Algebra, College Level Reading, Writing and Chemistry Readiness.

eTRACS is the online orientation for all transfer students. It is a simple and brief course that gives you the full details to register and enroll at SIUE. eTRACS is broken into modules; if you are entering as a transfer student, you are expected to complete the introductory module and module 1 before scheduling your first academic advising appointment.


Register for TRANSFERmation! TRANSFERmation will allow you and other SIUE transfer students to learn more about SIUE and, we hope, ease any concerns you have about your transition to our campus. It is designed to address your unique needs in attending SIUE and introduce you to our programs, services and activities.

Faculty, staff and current students will be available throughout the program to ensure that you leave campus feeling even more comfortable in your choice to attend SIUE.

Applying for University Housing

  • If you plan to live on campus during the spring semester, submit your housing application and deposit by December 1.
  • If you plan to live on campus during the summer semester, submit your housing application and deposit by April 1.
