Convocation at SIUE has become a tradition. This ceremonial assembly of members of the University Community symbolizes the beginning of your college career. Convocation officially welcomes students and their families to SIUE. All incoming freshman are encouraged to attend.

The SIUE Experience starts your journey into college life and our traditions. Beginning with move-in day and continuing throughout the weekend prior to classes, The SIUE Experience shows freshmen what it means to be part of the SIUE community through a symbolic, formal welcome at Convocation and the first sessions of your Freshman Seminar. You’ll meet faculty, staff and upper-class students dedicated to helping your make a successful transition to SIUE.
