The Honors Scholars Program helps outstanding students from all disciplines plan individualized academic programs, enabling them to study in one or two academic areas in depth, or explore a variety of courses outside their major.
Students admitted as Presidential, Chancellor's or Deans' Scholars plan their academic programs with the help of faculty advisers in their major areas of interest. Some graduation requirements are modified to afford opportunities to explore a variety of interests, or to study more intensively an area of concentration. Scholars may choose courses in diverse areas for a broad education.
The Johnetta Haley Scholars Academy supports minority undergraduate students at SIUE who choose to major in fields typically underrepresented by minorities, such as Biological Sciences, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Nursing, Physical Sciences and Teacher Education. Other majors may be considered if funds are available.
