Educational Administration – Teacher Leader at SIUE
The Department of Educational Leadership offers a program of study leading to the master of science in education (MSEd) degree. There are two program options: Teacher Leader or Principal. There are three pathways that lead to the Teacher Leader Endorsement on Illinois’ Professional Educator License: (1) a master’s program; (2) a specialist’s program for students who already hold a master’s, and; (3) a certification-only (non-degree) program for students who already hold a master’s degree but do not wish to pursue an additional graduate degree.
This two-year program can be completed in its entirety by taking courses one evening per week or one Saturday a month, with the exception of the summer term. Students choosing to take classes on Saturday will be required to come to campus four times per semester.
Completion of the Teacher Leader program (endorsement, master’s or specialist) ordinarily satisfies Illinois requirements for the associated endorsement. The Teacher Leader endorsement prepares professionals to assume a variety of building level leadership roles. Courses are generally acceptable for certification in other states.
