Pharmacy at SIUE
The SIUE School of Pharmacy offers a fully accredited, four-year doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) 2+4 program. This means that students must first complete the pre-pharmacy curriculum and then, if admitted, complete the four-year PharmD program.
The School will admit approximately 80 new students each year through the combined admission efforts of the traditional and conditional entry programs.
At SIUE, the learning environment and facilities are state-of-the-art. Faculty and students are involved in a variety of research projects to improve drug design and development, drug delivery, and disease therapy. They also conduct clinical research designed to directly improve patient care.

Since the practice of pharmacy is a vital part of a complete health care system, and the number of people requiring health care services has steadily increased, the demand for pharmacists is expected to continue. Due to many of society’s changing social and health issues, pharmacists will face new challenges, expanded responsibilities and an ever-increasing growth in opportunities.
PharmD/MBA Concurrent Degree
The SIUE School of Pharmacy and the SIUE School of Business offer, to selected students, the opportunity to earn a master’s in business administration while working toward completion of the doctor of pharmacy degree.
The purpose of the degree option is twofold. First, students who select the PharmD/MBA degree option earn a working knowledge of the connection between business practices and the pharmacy profession. Graduates gain the background and skills necessary to enter management positions within pharmacy. This concurrent degree program also allows students to earn an MBA degree in less time and at a lower cost than if the two degrees were pursued independently.
