Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition and Fees
Cooperative students can register for classes on either campus. They will pay tuition and fees to the campus at which they registered for the class. Thus, in a single semester, students may be registered on both campuses and be paying some tuition and fees on each campus. The exception is if the students are only take classes at SIUE, in which case they will be registered for one credit of ERP 601 with no charge at SIUC.

Assistantships
In order for a student to hold a graduate assistantship at SIUE, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and enroll in at least 6 credit hours per academic term. The student may have enrollment at SIUE only, or have enrollment at both SIUE and SIUC, as long as the cumulative hours enrolled are at least 6. Cooperative PhD students who receive graduate assistantship (GA) will receive a tuition waiver and stipend. For more information, visit the SIUE Graduate School website.

Financial Aid
SIUC is the degree granting institution, so financial aid will be based out of SIUC.

  • If the student is enrolled in classes at SIUE only, the student is not eligible for financial aid.
  • If the student is enrolled in classes at SIUC only, the student is eligible for financial aid through SIUC.
  • If the student is enrolled in classes at both SIUE and SIUC, and the student has enough hours at SIUC to receive maximum aid, then SIUC will offer all financial aid.
  • If the student is enrolled in classes at both SIUE and SIUC, and does not have enough hours at SIUC to get maximum financial aid, SIUC will do a consortium agreement with SIUE and offer all financial aid.

Cooperative PhD students are not eligible for Federal Work Study.
